Dr Caroline Marfleet.
I qualified from the Middlesex Hospital, London, in 1974 and have specialised in Womens Health since 1976. I was appointed Consultant in Reproductive and Sexual Health at Colchester Hospital in 1996.
Until my retirement from the NHS in 2017, I was the lead clinician for the Contraceptive and Sexual Health Service in Colchester, particularly assisting women with complex contraceptive needs and I specialised in difficult coil and implant insertions and removals. I was a Trainer for the Diploma of the Faculty of Reproductive Health Care and for Letters of Competence for Intrauterine and Implant insertions and removals, although I have ceased teaching other Health Professionals since my retirement.
I was very aware of the difficulties that many women had with menstrual disorders and Premenstrual Syndrome (PMDD or Premenstrual dysphoric disorder) and was able to offer solutions to help mange these problems.
I established The Menopause Clinic at Colchester Hospital 20 years ago where I saw (by GP referral) women with complex menopause problems from North East Essex and throughout East Anglia. It was the only Specialist menopause clinic in the East of England.
I hold the Advanced Certificate in Menopause Care and am recognised by the British Menopause Society. I have been responsible for training and educating many other health Professionals in this field.
My NHS work included a weekly clinic investigating and advising couples experiencing difficulty in conceiving.
I now focus on helping and advising my patients on the best way to manage these problems
in my private clinic at Chitts Hill, Colchester.
